What exists beyond the Silo?
Silo season one spoilers to follow.
Hugh Howey’s sci-fi dystopia novel-turned-TV adaptation has sustained us for 10 episodes thanks to the compelling mystery of what exists outside of the Silo. Furthermore, what existed before it?
Former engineer and new sheriff Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) sought to find out the answers to these questions after the death of her partner George (Ferdinand Kingsley).
What followed was an incredibly tense hunt for the truth that culminated in an epic finale that left us wanting more. But will we be getting another season? Here’s everything we know about the future of Silo.
Silo season 2 potential release date: When’s it on?
Thankfully, there’s no need to fret over the fate of Silo as Apple TV+ saw fit to renew the show ahead of the season finale.
The news came two weeks before season one ended which means we will thankfully get some answers. Even if it does mean a bit of a wait.
Howey wrote three books, and it seems as though seasons one and two will draw inspiration from the first book (judging by the season-one finale) before delving into the rest of the narratives.
The writers’ strike does leave the production side of things a little up in the air for now but if the show follows the same pattern as its debut season we could potentially expect a season two release in spring 2024.
Silo season 2 cast: Who will be coming back?
Rebecca Ferguson is expected to take the lead as Juliette Nichols in the upcoming season. We’d also expect the return of the following:

• Chinaza Uche as Paul Billings
• Rick Gomez as Patrick Kennedy
• Avi Nash as Lukas Kyle
• Common as Robert Sims
• Dame Harriet Walter as Martha Walker
Silo season 2 plot: What will happen?
Season two will most certainly be picking up from that cliffhanger as it continues on with the narrative arc of the first book in the series.
The second season will likely put Juliette through some desperate trials as she fully gets to grips with how to survive.
This could mean her making contact with people from the other silos, which could even lead to the return of some familiar faces from season one, such as Holston Becker (David Oyelowo) and his wife Allison (Rashida Jones) who were exiled early on.
Lead actress (and exec producer) Ferguson has revealed that she remained in “constant communication” with the author during filming which means the story must mirror the book very closely.
As for the future of the show, don’t ask Ferguson how long it might last.
“I’m a businesswoman. I go in with my head screwed on,” she said (via Collider). “I sign a contract and make a deal. I’m not gonna tell you what that deal is. [Laughs] I very much know what I want. It’s down to my wonderful team at Apple, as well, to see what they wanna do. You know, we all save our backs.”
“We see what works for the future. At my age and with what I’ve done, you don’t get to a point where you go, ‘Let’s see what happens,’ you know? I’m already blocking off November for another shoot. I think two, three years ahead.”
